VoiceThread - a collaborative slideshow tool that supports images, video and voice

  • Create a free account at VoiceThread or if you are a College of Education faculty, staff or student contact Laura B. Getting Started

  • VoiceThread has created several tutorials to help new users get oriented. You can find them here.
  • Content - click on Browse to explore what other VoiceThread users have created and made public.
  • Click the Create button to start your own VoiceThread. Automatically create slides by uploading Google Slides, PowerPoint or PDF presentations.
  • Free version allows you to create up to 5 VoiceThreads, comment by microphone and text, and share your VoiceThreads via a share link.
  • The free version is limited to 50 slides per VoiceThread. The paid version has a limit of 500 slides.

Classes

Students can:
  • interact with a VoiceThread instructors create by adding comments. Instructors can allow text, audio or video comments. How to comment
  • create their own VoiceThread and share it with instructors and classmates using a group or a link. How to share
Instructors can:
  • upload presentations (Google Slides, PowerPoint or PDF) and add a video "comment" to create side by side presentation with slides and video.
  • create a VoiceThread where students can add a slide for an assignment
  • create a group for your students following the instructions here if you are a College of Education faculty, staff or grad student teaching a class.

Feedback - Evaluation - Assessment

  • Instructors can post comments as informal feedback.
  • An external rubric can be used to evaluate student content, no built-in scoring.
  • If you are grading student voice comments, consider limiting length of comments using the "Thread Settings - Limit Each Comment to __".   Learn more about settings.
