Google Scholar Citations

Get Started!

  • Go to http://scholar.google.com
  • Click on "My Profile" at the top (you will need to sign in with your NCSU gmail account)
  • Follow each step to add your information and select articles to add
  • You will want to make your My Citations page public if you want it to be "googleable" and add to your impact
  • Add "manually" any articles that weren't picked up in previous steps

Export Google Scholar to import into Digital Measures

To export citations to a BibTeX file:
  1. Navigate to Google Scholar.
  2. Select My Citations.
  3. If you are not yet logged in, enter your credentials to sign in. Upon signing in you should land on your profile page where you will see a list of your "articles."
  4. If you would like to export only select articles to your BibTeX file, choose these from your profile. If you would like to export all of your articles, simply leave things as they are.
  5. In the Actions drop-down list choose to Export your articles.
  6. On the Export Articles page, ensure that the File Format selected is BibTeX. Then select to export either the selected articles or all articles, depending on your need.
  7. Save the export file.​

When logged into Digital Measures you can use the Import Items feature and select Option A: Import a file exported from another system (see above). Upload the file you exported from Google Scholar.

How hard is it for people to find you?

Under Privacy & Settings you can edit what information is public and how strangers can contact you. Remember that these "strangers" could be potential students or reporters interested in your expertise.

Look at your Public Profile to see what information others can see and how you are presented.

What information do you need to have on LinkedIN?
  • Look at what your current Profile Strength is, what are your gaps?
  • Start with a professional headshot 
  • Skills and Endorsements are used as the keywords used to find you
  • Publications is now available as a separate section.
  • Utilize multimedia within your job history or description. You can add videos, images and links to websites to make your online resume be more interactive.
