Global Read Aloud

The Global Read Aloud was created by Pernille Ripp to connect students around the world in reading.

One book to connect the world!

Books are selected to be read out loud to students during a six week period starting in October. These books are read around the world and classes attempt to make global connections to discuss, share, etc. about the book.

At the College of Ed

METRC hosted read alouds of the picture books and one of the YA/Middle Grades books in 2018. Books were read aloud in METRC following the schedule for the Global Read Aloud. Join us for these excellent readings! Books can be checked out in METRC or from our eBook systems.

Read Aloud Schedule

Read alouds were held in METRC. Picture book readings were followed by a discussion and Refugee readings will start with a "Previously on..." recap of the section of the book that was read the week before. Join for as many as you can, read on your own, get involved! #graWolfpack #gra18

NEW DATE ADDED - All picture books will be read with discussion opportunity and lesson plan ideas/connections on 11/1 and 11/5 from 11:45-1:00
NOTE: Refugee will be read over the course of the six weeks in different segments following the global schedule. Each read-aloud session will start with a "previously on...." segment in which we will review the parts of the book that have already been read. You are encouraged to read the entire book even if you cannot come to all of the read-alouds.

Discussion & More

TWITTER SLOW CHAT - We will participate in a slow chat over Twitter with Elon University future educators and the Twitter community. The slow chat will run from October 1st - November 10th and a new chapter/picture book-related question will be posted each week on Wednesdays starting 10/3/18. To participate, Tweet your thoughts about the readings and responses to the questions - use the hashtags #gra18 #grayWolfpack #graFutureEducator

FLIPGRID - We will also be participating with classes of kids through Flipgrid. You can contribute video discussion contributions to Flipgrid at any time of the day and can respond to students.
